Literacy

Gompers teachers teach the Common Core State Standards utilizing the curriculum made by MONDO to teach reading in grades K-5.  Teachers use multiple reading strategies to teach students in the primary grades to read.  In the intermediate grades, reading instruction is built on the foundation of guided reading, shared reading and independent reading while incorporating reading strategies and the habits of a reader into daily instruction.  The MONDO curriculum provides materials for reading instruction including shared reading, guided reading, oral language development, phonics instruction and independent activities and reading assignments.
